At the moment about 75% of my sits are Repeats or referrals and I have had to knock back a few from the website due to existing bookings.

I’ve made lots of friends from House sitting and the rare “difficult” owners are far outnumbered by the “Marvellous” ones, and I do like to Call back and see my pets from time to time.

 Love your site and Have referred several of my friends who were interested in sitting. Also referred a few owners to the site, who’s friends had recommended me, but who I was unable to accommodate due to being booked up.

 It reflects some of the queries we get regularly (kids, payment, transport etc.) A bit of further advice for prospective sitters - they should make sure they put a subject title for their email. Some don't and Hotmail dumps them in "junk" or I don't open them in case they are spam/virus.

We are presently in Switzerland house sitting for a young couple. They are American and live here on a 2 yr contract with Johnson & Johnson. They hope their next contract will take them to Australia.
We have enjoyed our stay and our location is right on Lake Neuchatel. On a clear day we look over the lake to the Alps. (haven't had too many of those) During our time here we have visited a good part of Switzerland and the Alps. They are truly spectacular. It is snowing outside as I write this. Have just heard it is 32degrees and humid at home in Brisbane so we will notice it when we get off the plane on 9thJan.
We have enjoyed the opportunity to house sit and have had offers that were good and some not so good.
We feel this will be our last trip overseas as we are getting older and find it more difficult. This time we were 2 1/2months in the US and Canada before we came to Switzerland on 21st Nov so we have been away from home for a long time and looking forward to getting home again.

We are in Euroa Victoria at the moment caring for a property along with 2 small dogs. We are due to leave here approx 8th January to go back down to Werribee South until early February 2009. Then we are heading back up to Dysart Qld (for family).
After that lot is over, we are due in Flaxton again in May through until November 2009!
We are still getting calls and emails for care-taking etc, so I would ask that you remove ALL our adverts at this stage please.

I have been to 2 great house sits recently, this time a bit closer to home. To Normanville south of Adelaide, a delightful country community though becoming ”touristy”. Enjoyed the beach and old historical sites, and a fun English terrier.
Then to Victor Harbor in a most delightful log cabin, with again some great dogs and a cat.
All houses have been ‘sparking” clean and they have all made sure that I will be comfortable and content.
After my 10 minutes stint on the radio with Peter Goers, I have been very surprised at how many people who know me, actually heard the interview. I had not realized how widely he was listened to. So much for my moment of fame.

Very happy with the response I have had from the housesit site.  A couple rang me wanting me to housesit for June and July, no pets, nice house and were incredibly keen to have me so they could travel north for winter.  I told them it wouldn't work because I wouldn't have anywhere to live in August before I go to my own home at the end of August and they said ok we will go away for 3 months.  I move in this weekend and have met them a couple of times now and feel very comfortable.

Yep, We are on the move again!
Have had enough of the Brisbane area, for now at least. We are going up to Dysart via Proserpine (I know that is a round about way of getting there but there is a wedding involved). We intend to be in that area for a couple of months and then have arranged to care for a property at Montville (which is near Maleny I believe) from 15th June until the end of October  2008.
We are still receiving a lot of enquiries from house-owners.  From some of the later requests it appears as though several have had some nasty experiences in the past. I have advised those people to take extra care when selecting their prospective sitters and to read ALL the suggestions on your web site. If they follow your suggestions then they can't go too far wrong.
Some owners appear to be a bit too embarrassed to pry into the past activities of potential sitters would you believe!
We had intended calling in to say hello to you all on the way through but we will probably be going inland.

Hi, I thought that I should give some feedback on my house/pet sit this October. I spent the month of October house/pet sitting for a couple who have a beautiful log home on the banks of the Gallatin River in the Gallatin Valley, South West Montana. Using Housesitworld the owners contacted me in April asking if I would be prepared to look after their three small dogs for the month of October. Having spent last autumn in the Madison Valley I knew the area very well and had been impressed by its beauty and the wonderful fly fishing that is to be had there.
We exchanged emails, I provided several references, although this was my first house/pet sitting experience, the references were from 
professional friend and colleagues across Europe, the USA and Canada.
The owners collected me from Bozeman Airport on the 5th October and drove me out to their home. That evening we had dinner with a group 
of friends at a local bar and grill and the evening was just great. They were just so generous and kind to me and so pleased that I had come out to  look after the dogs - three small white fluffy dogs, 
which were great fun and really very easy to care for.  I was able to catch up with old friends, see some of the beautiful countryside and mountains, and fish almost everyday in the most wonderful scenery and catch some stunning trout - Rainbows and Cutbows to 17", Cutthroats to 12" and some amazing Brown Trout to 21".
I went over to the Paradise Valley to meet with a couple who emailed me about housesitting the winter for them. This year I couldn't really do it, but may do so in the future. I will certainly return at some time next year.

just a note to let you know how the sitting has gone since I first enrolled on your site...this is now the third year that I advertised with you.
I am really pleased with the people that I have connected with. In all honesty the last ones in October this year weren't up to the usual standard, but even so, it was probably more from the  comparison to the exceptional care others have offered my property and animals thus far. My animals were alive and well, and the house was not vandalised... so I shouldn't complain huh !
The truth is that for the most part we want our homes occupied while we are away, and the animals allowed to relax in their routines and in their own environment. In the past the sitters have gone above and beyond the call....
It has been my good fortune to usually find people who love and enjoy being around animals, and have a high sense of respect for another persons home.... this is the calibre of the people who use your site.
And yes, I am planning my next trips for 2008... something to hold onto when the snow is knee deep .... so I will be knocking on your email door again a few months from now seeking people interested in sharing the SE Colorado experience. It is neat that fellow Kiwis, Aussies and American couples have so far been entertained by a small rural high plains life style.

Pets include a really nice dog and two tanks of lizards. I had to put live crickets into the tanks last week - not a task I particularly enjoyed. But it was fun watching one of the big lizards rushing around and catching the crickets - the lizard was so fat the next day that it looked as though it was about to explode!

At present we are at Eugowra NSW (Near Parkes). We are caring for a small sheep property here whilst the owners are up the gulf doing a bit of fishing and rental house maintenance etc. We will be here until the 24th October 2007.

Now back from Oz.  Sitters were good, no problems as far as I could see, .... Dog & cat were well looked after. I shall certainly be using your services again late this year.

G’day Danny

Would you please delete our ads for the time being as we are fully booked out for our available time just now.

We have had good success with three house-sits between end Nov and early April.

At the moment we are looking after a lovely property in 16 hectares of rainforest near Byron Bay, some nice animals to look after, our caravan parked in the yard by the house, large deck overlooking a billabong, lots of fruit trees, quad bike to play with…want to come?

Next month we move to a nice 5 acre property in the Brisbane Valley and the owners get back the day before we fly out to the UK for our 6 monthly exile, and would you believe the house is only 5 mins from where we will store our caravan whilst we are abroad.

We will be available for house-sitting again at end of the year en route from Cairns to Melbourne so will get in touch mid-year to set up our next ads.

Interesting how late people seem to leave their search for house-sitters.
